My old pressure drops 2-0 and makes a clattering noise, but shows to be full-on dipstick. I've checked the oil pressure sending unit, low pressure switch, everything there is to checked.

Good morning,

You need to do a manual test on the oil pressure at the switch. You can rent the test kit at a parts store.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/high-or-low-engine-oil-pressure

It could be:

1. Oil pump failure.

2. Clogged pick up screen in the oil pan from dirt build up on the bottom of the pan.

3. Worn out main and rod bearings.

Hello,

Okay, this could be a problem with your vehicle's oil pump. In the diagrams down belowI have included an Oil Pressure Troubleshooting Guide, Specs on what the correct oil pressure should be for your vehicle, and the step by step instructions from the factory on the removal and installation of your vehicle's oil pump. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex
