First truck I have ever owned ie. 2009 F-150 Ford King Ranch. I live in Canada. Was consistently getting 14L/100 km for months when service engine light came on. Next day my fuel bettered to 13L/100km. A day or two later it went to 12L/100km. Garage checked code and said problem was an O2 sensor which needed to be changed. $300.00 later I drove out and mileage went to 15L/100 km. It has stayed there and never got any better. Is this worth mentioning to mechanic as he does not like to discuss fuel economy.

The O2 sensor can be read using live data feed, if it is not working with in the required voltage it should be replaced. failed o2 sensors will increase fuel economy. Here is how you can change the sensors and their location as well in the diagrams below but check out this guide first

Hello, I'm Danny.

It's showing four sensors in total. Two are pre-catalytic converter and the other two are mounted in the converters. I've attached a picture below. Here is a tutorial showing how to replace Ho2 sensors:

Where is the location of the heated oxygen sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1. Is it on the drivers or passenger side of my 2006 F150 5.4l v8?

I have a 2004 Ford F-150, 4.6. It’s reading codes 2195 and 2197 which are O-2 sensor codes. I’ve replaced both #1 O-2 sensors, the MAF sensor, the fuel filter and all suspect Vacuum hoses. I’ve also checked for Vacuum leaks, cleaned the ICV and EGR valve. The fuel pressure is 38 (should be between 30 and 40). Checked the temp. In front of and behind the Catalytic Converter ( under 100 degrees difference). I’ve invested a lot of money in parts that have not resolved the problem. Can I check the ICV by connecting it to a battery and see if *** is fully opening? I’ve checked the ohms (reading 10.1 � 2prong). I could sure use some help ! Thanks

I'm sorry I should have said The truck is ideling worse then before. When it's first started it will idel fast then very rough at around 1000 rpms then die.

Could be vacuum leak check All the hoses, check for cracks in the intake manifold, bolts loose, gasket sucked in, air entering the exhaust ahead of the OX sensors is all detected by the OX sensors and try to richen up fuel injected but can only go so far in corrections.
This goes to the point the motor runs rough from leaness in and not enough fuel to counter the leaness.
There are different procedures to use for leak detection. Some use propane, some use smoke, some use a scanner to watch certain sensor reactions to forced test procedures.

I've sprayed carb cleaner all around the intake and presure checked the elbow at the PCV. I've ordered a new PCV and will try that tonight. (Nobody had on in stock). I think I, ve done a good job of checking for a vacuum leak but I'll try again.

Any other ideas?

I have a 2004 F150 with 52000 miles and just recently the engine light came on, I took it to a shop and had them hook it up to a computer and it said it was my oxygen sensors. I decided to take it to the shop, before I could get it there the light came off. I decided to not ake it to the shop but a month or so later it came back on. I made a appointment with Ford which I had to wait a month for, before the time of the appointment it came back off again. Finally the day came I went to my appointment and of course waited 5 hours just for them to tell me that it was my Thermostat stuck open. I told them I had it looked prior to my appointment and the computer said it was my O2 sensors. I'm not completely dumb when it comes to working on vehicles but I've never heard of a Thermostat stuck open could cause a vehicle to run rich which would make the computer put out a code for the o2 sensors. Just the other day after they had replaced the Thermostat the light came back on again for the same o2 sensors?>? Is it possible for a vehicle to run rich because of a Thermostat stuck open?

Yes it is totally possible as the truck will run cooler and as if it was cold and would give the engine extra fuel in order to compensate. So when you hook it up to a scanner again dont take there word for what is wrong. Get the code itself then have them clear it and get the code to me or one of us and we can look it up and tell you what that code means and what may be wrong. Do you remember what the code was?

The code is P0420. I've looked it up and read about this code. My truck only has 52000 miles and the cat is going bad already? That is just ridiculous. I do have a extended warranty but i'm sure it doesn't cover cats, however. Does anyone know if it should still be covered through ford since it has so little miles on it? I have a appointment for my truck here in a couple days, but it's not at Ford cause I waited so long there just to get a Thermostat changed. I'm also going on a 3000 mile drive here in a couple weeks, I was told that it just might need to be driven for a long while since maybe the cat isn't getting hot enough, but I don't want to risk breaking down on the road. Would it hurt my truck if the cat is doing what it is doing and I still drive the mileage?

Actually, based on how bad it is will make a difference. The performance and efficiency will decline. Also, it can cause problems to other parts such as the catylatic converter if it is running too rich. If you can, I would recommend replacement. It is easy to do and the part should be around 75 bucks.

My truck start to shake real bad when I was driving down the road and my oxygen censors are going bad and my dad said that it was missing. Would my oxygen sensors be causeing it to do that? Are what could it be?

If have check engine light on have to check for codes
if check engine light on and blink as you drive engine is misfiring and need to check it for tune up and make sure its firing at all cylinders
have to have the engine running on all cylinders 1st
