New battery, new battery cables, new starter but still wont start. Turn key on and all the lights come on but no click or clank from starter when putting the ignition to run. No change if it's in park or neutral. Checked the fuses under the dash and all are good.

Hello,

This is going to be a problem with the wire going from your vehicle's battery to the starter solenoid or more likely a problem with your vehicle's starter solenoid itself. In the diagrams down below I have included the wiring diagrams for your vehicle with the wire and the starter solenoid highlighted for you. Please check out these components and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

Already replaced the cable from the battery to the solenoid and the negative cable as well and had the starter assembly bench tested and it worked fine. When I took the starter off it only had the battery cable connected and one cable connected to the S terminal. Is there supposed to be one on the R terminal on this truck?

Hello again,

I'm having a hard time finding information on your vehicle. I'm guessing it's because of the classic nature of it, and there just is not of them left. Personally, I think it's cool as hell, but that's where I am at here. In the diagrams down below I am sending you everything I can find on the connections and testing of your vehicle's stater/starting system. Please go through the information and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

So far everything tested okay, found the fusible link in the circuit and that ohmed out good too. I'm thinking it has to be the neutral switch. Will let you know once I can work on it again.

I'm teaching my fifteen year old how to work on this truck, he took the starter off. Well today I watched him put it on but before he did I asked him to show me what wires were where when he took it off. Turns out the previous owner hooked up the starter wrong because once he told me where they were I told him that the wires were wrong, hooked it up correctly and fired right up.
