My car will not shift gears until it reaches 35,000-40,000 rpm's, and then shifts hard. I thought it possibly could be low on transmission fluid, so I added a some fluid and that was not the issue I'm guessing. What could be causing it to do this?

Hello,

It sounds like you have a partially clogged catalytic converter. To be sure here is a guide to help us confirm the issue:

Please run down this guide and report back.

This is the first car I have ever worked on. I did change the rod bearings about a week ago successfully on my car, but I am not so sure that catalytic converter is it. But like I said I'm new to this so I am still going to check that out. I noticed today that I have antifreeze on top of my transmission, is there possibly any sensors in that area that could have been effected by the antifreeze if it possibly dripped on them? I checked for leaks to the coolant lines in that area but found nothing. Also now when I drive my car it's like the car won't go higher than 30000 rpm. Any ideas on why?

As far as the catalytic converter being clogged it lowers the vacuum which makes the computer think you are going up a hill and holds the shifts. Let me know. you can loosen the head pips and drive it to confirm the issue it will be a little loud.
