When I start my car, it makes a rattling noise for a few seconds then it sounds fine. It does not make a noise while driving, just when the car cranks up. It did not make the noise when I started it up from cold this morning, only while the engine was warm. I just got it out of the shop yesterday, it has a new serpentine belt and water pump. I will add a video for reference. The noise is around the two second mark. Sorry it is kind of quiet, was using a phone.

Sounds like something is lose like the timing chain guide is broken or the timing tension-er is out. Did you have the timing chain kit replaced when you did the pump? Because the water pump is driven by the chain.

Here is a guide to help you see how the system works. That for the video make out job easier. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

I took it to the mechanic and he agrees it could be the tension-er. Is there a chance I can continue driving the car without having to get it fixed? I do not want to have to drop another $200.00.

Not really the noise is telling excessive wear is occurring and there will be small pieces of metal and other debris that will plug the oil pump pickup then real problems occur. If you have the job done can you post he parts that are broken/worn? $200.00 would be cheap to do the job BTW.
