I have the wagon. I replaced transmission about seven months ago. D4 light has been blinking since day one and previous owner said had the same issue. It has worked fine until speedometer started jumping and stopped moving and D4 stays solid. Now will not shift. Sometimes jumps up and down and starts blinking but, now stays lit up and speedometer not working and no shift. I had to repair a few wires on shift solenoid but it has been good for the past seven months. I am stumped. I have even replaced ECU, it worked for about two weeks with D4 blinking. Now I can only use low 1 and 2. What could be the issue? I have narrowed down to wiring, because it will still shift good when I would did kick on.

Hello,

It sounds like you need to replace the turbine speed sensor and the vehicle speed sensor. Here is a video of the job being done:

https://youtu.be/f3bETtCIdxM

This guide can help out as well

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/automatic-transmission-problems

Here are the sensor locations (below) they call it a counter shaft sensor. Check out the diagrams. Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

My Honda Accord has been overheating lately because the radiator fan is broken. But sometimes when I try to start the car it starts fine but wont go into reverse or drive, ect. The battery light and the oil light come on but both are fine. Is this due to the car overheating?

Hi buddylee303,

Problem should not be related. Possibly the transmission control system has a fault.

The charge and oil light coming on indicates a possible ignition switch fault.

My daughter has a 92 accord, had problems shifting while driving and would lock the shifter when startad sometimes. When I replaced her battery it reset the computer and solved these problems. Try disconnecting the positive cable from the batt. Wait a couple min and re connect. Good luck I hope this works for you too.

You can go through the gears but it will not move. Yesterday I was trying it again and could get reverse but nothing else it is my daughters car for college, it purrs like a kitten but with 310,000 I don't want to sink too much more money into it, it has a brand new radiator and battery and if I have to junk it for 75.00 that would be a shame. Any suggestions?

Hi simpletim,

You need to get a scan done to find out what is causing the CEL to show. As to the gears not shifting, check if transmission fluid is level is correct.

If fluid level is correct, you migh have a failing trans that needs a rebuild or replacement or the TCM might be faulty.

Get the CEL checked first, it might be related to the trans not working.

The car had lost a radiator. I replaced the radiator, thermostat and trans lines. After repairs the trans shifted fine through 4 gears but does not shift to overdrive at about 55mph as it did before. I lost alot of fluid during the repairs but refilled it previous to running. Is this shifted electronically or by pressure. If electronic, could I have unhooked a wire or connection during these repairs. The shift indicator flashes when driving in 4th speed.

You might have knocked something off the trans while you were in there. Did you warm the engine up and fill the trans to the correct mark on dipstick? Fluid level is critical to auto transmissions. Try having the PCM scanned at Autozone, they do it for free and see if it has any codes for the trans.

Hi cangel,

The clutch hydraulic system has failed. Check the fluid level in clutch master cylinder reservoir. If it is low, top it up and bleed system if necessary.

Check for leaks and repair accordingly.

No I took it to an tranny shop for a free check and they said it wasent communicating with their computer that might be because of a wire. And I didnt have enough money to have them run a full diagnostics on it

If reverse is working and after taking off with 2, the gears shift correctly after that, you have a bad 1st clutch and this means the transmission requires a rebuild or replacement.
