No heat

The last mechanic that I took my van to replace the A/C compressor because the system was only blowing heat. He told me I was going to need a new temperature actuator (I think that's what he said) and the dash was going to need to be removed. He said he could just disable the heat. He did. This was back last April. Now I need heat. I can't find proper diagrams for the area around the heater core, I'm beyond broke and don't have the money to take it anywhere. But I am quite capable of fixing things myself. Haynes's manual does help at all.

Amanda, we need to get you heat. I do need to confirm something. First, there is a component called a blend air door. That is the door in the HVAC system that controls the air temperature entering the vehicle.

Here is a link that explains in general how one is replaced:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-blend-door-motor

Now, if your vehicle has dual climate control, there will be two of them. But usually, they both won't go bad at the same time. If there is standard temp control, there is one. I attached a pic below showing its location and no, the dash doesn't need to be removed.

Take a look at the picture. Also, let me know if this is the part you were told needs replaced.

Take care,

Joe

Is there by any chance a straight on from the side diagram? I believe there is a spring somewhere that is attached to it, and I need to see how it should look. But yes, that is the price that I think will solve the problem as well.

I appreciate your prompt response, it's nice to get some help. (Can't wait until I can just trade this Van for a more reliable vehicle, so many things keep failing.)

Hi,

The only pic I have from straight on is with the HVAC box apart. Take a look at it and let me know if that helps. Also, where are you seeing a spring? Could you take a pic and upload it for me to see?

Let me know.

Joe
