I turn the knob to red for the heater and nothing but cold air blows out all vents. I checked engine coolant levels and all are good. I went to AutoZone today and he said it was a blend door actuator. I don't have any clicking or any other noises, just cold air. Suggestions on what it actually is and how to replace it?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

There is a good chance it is the actuator; however, you need to check something first.

Start the engine and allow it to warm up to operating temp. Have the heater on high the entire time. When it warms up, feel both heater core hoses where they enter the vehicle via the firewall. If both are hot, then the actuator is the issue. If only one is hot, suspect a plugged heater core.

Here is a link that reviews the most common causes of heater problems. Take a look through it.

Now here is the interesting part. Your vehicle should have dual climate control. That means there are two actuators, one for the left and one for the right. It's odd that both would go bad unless you are getting heat on one side and not the other. So, check to see if there is coolant flowing through the heater core.

Let me know what you find and I will further direct you.

Take care,
Joe

You are very welcome. Let me know what you find. Once we know if the heater core is allowing coolant to flow through it, we'll know what to do next.

Take care,
Joe

It was the blend door actuator. I replaced it today. Now, my radio is locked on AM station. None of the buttons work. I guess it is because I unplugged it and had to remove the radio to do the replacement. Can you let me know how to and what to do to reset my radio and sync in my truck?

Welcome back:

I'm not a radio expert but will try my best. I know that disconnecting power for 10 minutes resets most. Also, there is a self test we can perform.

If disconnecting for 10 doesn't help, go through this self test to see if we can identify the issue.

Turn the Audio Front Control Module (ACM) on.
Operate the audio system in radio tuner (AM/FM) mode.
Press and hold preset buttons 3 and 6 for 3 seconds until the speaker walk test begins.
The display indicates each speaker as it is tested.
NOTE: If the speaker walk test is the only test required, this procedure can be stopped after step 3 by turning the ACM off.

Before the speaker walk test is complete, carry out any of the following actions: Try this and let me know if it helps or what you find.

Disconnecting the battery did not work! When I start the truck the radio is stuck on am station. None of the buttons work, none so I can't do anything to it that requires using the buttons on the radio. Can I borrow a match?

Welcome back:

LOL No match! However, I understand your frustration. At this point, and I hate to say it, I think the best thing to do is have it checked at a stereo shop. If the buttons aren't working and you can't even put it into self check mode, I'm not sure what else can be done.

If you want to wait until Monday, I can ask a few people if they every had this type of issue. Also, if you can, let me know what model stereo you have in the truck. Ford provided everyone with a million options. LOL Just let me know what all it has.

Take care,
Joe

I removed the radio again, and one of the connectors had came undone. I should have checked all of this first. Thanks again for your assistance! I rode to work this morning with heat on a cold morning. I appreciate ya'll very much! Take care!
