Not sure if this question has already been answered so if it has, I would appreciate it being pointed to the thread.

Changed the clutch on my wife's 2007 Accord 2.2 Estate and after getting it back together it wouldn't go into any gears while the engine was running but did when engine off.

I replaced the slave cylinder and bled the system after which, Whilst the car is not running, it will happily go into 1st and 2nd, a little bit stiffer on 3rd and 4th, then won't go into anything else. With the engine running, it won't go into any gears, not even grinding.

I have tried adjusting the pedal end, but this has made no difference.

I am hoping that there is some trick that I don't know about but would appreciate any help you can give.

Hmm, so when the gear works with the engine off means the clutch is not dis-engaging. If you have good clutch pedal, (working normally) then the clutch disc is bent, or in backwards. Did you do the job yourself? If the transmission was "hanging" on the clutch without support, it can bend the clutch disc.

Here is a guide to help with the problem, please go over it and get back to me:

Please upload a video for the problem in your response.

Hi Ken,

The clutch assembly that I used as the replacement was a standard type of clutch, however, the one that was on the car originally was a self-adjusting one.

I decided to replace like for like so I got a self-adjusting one and put that on. After getting it all back together, I do now have a working clutch.

Would there be a reason why a standard type of clutch would not work?

Many thanks

That makes no sense, the clutch assembly has nothing to do with the style of pedal activation the car has, it sounds more like the clutch disc was backwards.

Hi Ken,

I did look at the original disc but it had no indication as to which way round it should go so I put it the same way round as the one I took off.

The disc only goes in one way; here is a guide to help show you:
