I recently purchase a 1999 Chrysler Sebring from my brother and his girl friend not long after I lost my keys while jogging with my dogs, they did not have an extra set however they did pay for a lock smith to come to my home where the vehicle is located in fact they sent two different lock smith, because the first one after doing what he was doing making keys etc etc he said I will need to take to dealership it is a special code that is needed and only dealership can assist with that and he did give me the key that he made I believe it is a transponder key. Now the second lock smith he to had no success here but he did say if I can get it to his shop then he can do it because it needs to be connected to a real computer in order to re-code ignition switch because it is not the original. My verification of ownership is pink slip, bill of sell and my California driver licences. Can Chrysler please help me with re-coding the key that locksmith made?

Tow it to the dealer to have the key programmed or find a locksmith that can program it. My wife had a new key made and programmed at an alarm shop. We live in L.A. So if your near by send me a message and will try to get you the info. I also believe it was around $100 to do.

Also on a side note: the key made could be one without transponder and that is why you are having problems getting it coded. My wife bought the key from the same place that programmed it so you may be better off starting over and buying the correct key.
