The truck listed above is a 1500. My truck is not cranking I checked the ignition harness. I have no power to the white and yellow wire at the fuse box which I’m pretty sure are starter wires. Should I replace the harness?

Hi,

I just went through the wiring schematic and was unable to find any white/yellow wires other than a yellow from the neutral safety switch.

I attached the wiring schematic below of the starting system circuit. I highlighted two fuses to check. In addition to checking the fuses, confirm there is power to and from them. Here is a link you may find helpful:

Pics 3 and 4 are the fuse boxes. Pic 3 is inside the vehicle, and pic 4 is under the hood.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

Both fuses were good, the crank fuse under the dash is receiving no power and the fuse under the hood is receiving power. I slammed the hood out of frustration and my instrument cluster came back in and it cranked. I switched it off and on and the cluster was off and it didn’t crank again.

Okay, go back to the fuses under the hood that you checked and had power. They send power to the interior where you have no power. The breakdown is between the two.

In most cases, either there is a corrosion issue, a poor pin connection where the fuse pushes in, or a loose wire near the fuse.

Let me know.

Joe

Hang in there. We'll figure it out. But I do understand your frustration. Wiring issues can be a nightmare.

I don't see any loose wires or corroded wires anywhere near the fuse.

Thanks a lot for your advice. I have a parts truck here and I ended up changing out the under-hood fuse box Just to see what would happen and I ended up fixing all my problems.

Hi,

First, you are very welcome. I'm glad to know you got it fixed. Surprisingly, a faulty fuse box isn't uncommon.

Regardless, I'm glad to know it's fixed. Please feel free to come back anytime in the future if you have questions. You are always welcome here.

Take care,

Joe
