Change the fuel pump out. Fuel pump seal was making and you could smell gas in the cab. Shelly decided just to change the whole fuel pump out. After fuel pump was installed the check engine light started coming on and first flashing that it would turn to solid. Now it is running rough does not accelerate very well at all and when I take it to get the codes read it says no codes stored. So I don't even know where to start.

Hello, I'm Danny.

When the fuel pump was replaced or at any time was the battery disconnected? Usually when the battery is disconnected for more than 10 minutes all codes current and stored will be erased. Was the car running good prior to fuel pump replacement? Let us know. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Yes, car was running great. There was no check engine light. We changed fuel pump because of the seal leaking and we could smell gas in the car. It was after changing fuel pump that the check engine light came on. I have tried to scan it several times and no codes. What I thought was odd is when I scanned the car the scanner wanted me to pick between 2 different control modules. No codes on either control module.

Hello again.

Did you say the symptoms are poor acceleration and a misfire? What kind of scanner or code reader was used? Did you take it to AutoZone to have the codes checked for free? Let me know.

Since the car started running poorly after the fuel pump it sounds like a low pressure issue. I would replace the pump again with an OEM unit. Also reinspect the job you could have a line that is pinched off. This guide can help check the pressure to confirm with instructions below to show you how to replace the pump correctly:

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
