I bought a used Titan and 3 weeks after I got it, it started to smoke a lot at start up. I have done engine flushes, oil changes, even tried the ATF trick, all with no results. I am being told that I am going to have to have the valves totally redone. How much is a fair price for this type of job?

Hi there,

This is very hard to determine as you just don't know how much damage is to be repaired, I would ring around and get a price on a change over re-co head. This will give you a bench mark for what will be a max cost for the job. Also be aware that with older engines if you repair the head and improve the compressions you can stress the old rings to a point where they will start for fail and oil usage is a problem again.
