CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THE STARTER IS LOCATED ON A 1999 NISSAN SENTRA AND HOW I MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIX IT WITHOUT REPLACING IT? I HEARD IF YOU KNOCK ON IT WITH A WRENCH IT MAY MAKE IT START. IS THIS TRUE?

Look under the intake manifold, towards the driver side. You will see it. To replace, you may want to remove the air intake box for more room. You may not be able to see the bottom bolt, but you can feel it.

Hitting the starter is only temporary measure, as the starter is "stuck" on dead spots. Eventually you will have to replace it.
