Engine Performance problem
1997 Nissan Micra Manual 100000 miles

Hi, I brought this Micra on Saturday, looks and seemed in good condition and the dealer said there were no issues with it. Had been recently MOT'd and the guy said he spent some money fixing a few things and new tires. All weekend it started first time, ran beautifully but this morning, it just could not start. I called my friend who advised me to try it and give a little gas while I turned the key, I could hear the car ticking over and it sounded like it wanted to start and started to shake as if it would but then gave up. I tried again and it made a sad little sound and nothing happened. Sounded like the batter gave up. I have seen on some websites that this can be a problem, especially in Winter. Any ideas? I am hoping to jump it this evening and give it a good run if it starts but am worried about tomorrow morning and being stuck again. Any help would be appreciated. This is my first car and have no idea about mechanics at all but hoping to pass this info to my friend who does.

Thanks
Ruth

You best make sure the battery is not frozen-best just take it out and have it load tested if it passes -have it charged-up and then try again

Hi

Thanks for the tip. Ill get my friend to try this. If the battery is ok, is there any way of preventing this from happening again? Is there anything I can do on my own if it happens in the morning again do you know?
Also, according to my friend, I 'turned the engine over until it was flat' does this = the same answer?

Thanks very much
