2001 Nissan Maxima GEAR CHANGE PROBLEM

IN I DRIVE MY NISSAN MAXIMA-2001 CAR FOR ABOUT 8 TO 10 Kms, WHEN I PUT BREAK & THEN START TO ACCELARATE, RPM GOES UP TO THE TOP, BUT MY CAR DOESNT MOVE FAST, SPEED STAYS ONLY AROUND 20kmph, GIVING NOISE WHILE ACCELARATING.
THEN, I HAVE TO STOP THE CAR FOR 5 to 10 MINS & START AGAIN. IT WILL MOVE AS USUAL FOR FEW Kms, BUT SAME PROBLEM WILL RE-OCCUR.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE REASON & THE REPAIR TYPE TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM.

Change transmission fluid if NOT you must make over-hole the gear.
