I created this problem. I replaced the valve cover gaskets which were leaking but once everything was back together. The car idle was screwed.

A bolt on the rear valve cover cracked when putting the car back together so I had my local mechanic drill it out for me. He mentioned I hadn't needed to take the throttle body off. Unsure if this is what started it.

Once I got everything back together the car started but the idle wasn't smooth in park. Once in drive the idle was obviously low. Sometimes when coasting (driving but not hitting gas) the car will just die. Doesn't chug or sputter, if just turns off.

Any ideas for me?

There is a idle set screw on the throttle body itself at the linkage and also a air idle on top the big plastic one if those do not bump the idle up the idle air control valve may need to be unscrewed and cleaned out and check the egr valve and tubing and the engine for vacuum leaks you will hear them and have you replace the pcv on top of the valve cover?
