I have a 2005 Altima with 97000 miles on it. I bought it used, so im not positive how it was taken care of previously. The car runs fine, but when in park (low RPMs) there is an annoying chirping sound coming from the engine compartment. This sound only occurs when the a/c is turned on! Turn the a/c off, and the sound goes away. Also, along with the chirping noise when the a/c is on, there is a low rumble type sound coming from the engine compartment as well. I havent replaced anything yet. In college. No money :( but I need to get this annoying problem figured out.

CHECK YOUR BELT AND TENSIONER AND THAT RUMBLING NOISE COULD BE A BAD AC COMPRESSOR. IF THE COMPRESSOR IS STARTING TO LOCK UP IT WOULD CAUSE THE BELT TO SLIP THAT WOULD MAKE THAT CHIRP NOISE OR A WORN OUT BELT TENSIONER COULD ALSO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM.
