I've been out here reading problems with the Altima. I am having a problem with the car shutting down while I'm driving. I replaced the fuel pump, and filter plus some other part that has to do with the fuel pump. Wasn't a new part as new was $750 and junk yard was $50. Don't want to spend too much more on the car. Once it sits for awhile it will turn on but as of yesterday now it won't do that. It cranks but doesn't kick over. Any ideas of what else to look for?

Hi Sharon1222,

You have to confirm whether it is the fuel or electrical that is causing the problem before we can start.

My back-yard repairman didn't say. He just picked it up to drive it to his house 1 mile away. Hopefully it will get there. The other thing he replaced was the O2 sensor along with fuel pump and filter. He got the O2 sensor at a junk yard and everything was working for the past week then it's conking out again.

Hi Sharon1222,

Without any info, it would be hard to advise what to look for as there are many different things that can cause the problem.

Ask you repairman what he has found out and suggestions.

Any check lights indication before the engine stalls?

Get a scan done to locate for stored error codes in the ECU.
