Nissan Altima 95, Milage: 120,000

last week, when I stoped at traffic light, car suddenly died and I had to restart it again. There is no any problem to restart the car and it runs ok during driving.

Now, it choke and dies more frequently when the car is standing and idling, no matter the transmission is in P/N/R or D stage.

one of my friend told me that the problem is from the distributor.

Could you tell me what that could be?
Thank you.

Check your distributor for oil under cap and under rotor.
If oil is present, clean it with a carb or electrical cleaner and see if it works better. If it does, that's where your problem is, so replace the distributor (well-known problem with Altimas).

If your distributor is fine, check the Idle Air Control and/or Coolant Temp sensor.
