A low idle speed which can cause an engine to stall can be caused by a few things. First, is the check engine light on? If it is, you need to scan the computer for diagnostic trouble codes. Here is a quick video showing how it is done:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but most parts stores will check it for you or rent / lend you a scanner.
Now, an engine vacuum leak can also cause this to happen. Here is a link that shows how to check for a leak:
