This happened in the middle of the day when I left the gas station. Random. It started about 24 hours ago. Since then, the screen and A/C control module came on twice for a short period of time. I can’t adjust the AC since the control module using working. None of the buttons on it works. And when it randomly came on twice all of the buttons worked the way they’re supposed to.

Hi,

Since it works on and off, the first thing I would check is the wiring connector to the unit. Make sure it isn't damaged or loose.

If everything appears to be okay, we need to scan the can-bus for codes.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes from any module.

Here is a link showing how it is done.:

Let me know if that is something you can do or have done.

Take care,

Joe

Here’s my monitor and AC module while driving. The monitor was flickering yesterday but never turned on. The buttons light up on the module with the rest of the interior at night but the indicators on each button doesn’t light up.

Hi,

First, I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It has been a bit crazy. Regardless, if there are no codes, my first suspect is a loose connector. It could even be a fuse in the fuse box that has a poor connection. Have you been able to check those things?

Let me know.

I took out the display and the control panel. Unplugged the connectors in them and plugged it back in. Everything came on. I turned off the car. The next time I turned it in (30 minutes), nothing worked again. And as far as fuses are concerned, I took some fuses out and replaced some of them that were dark even though the fuse tester showed they worked. Another annoying thing is my A/C starts on auto every time I get in the car. And I’m unable to turn it off because the control panel isn’t working. I’m freezing at night. I really need to get this figured out. Thanks for replying.

It's interesting that it worked after disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors. Was there any corrosion or evidence of damage to the connectors or the pins in the connectors?

Let me know.

I took out the panel again. I didn’t touch the wires, but I held the module like a sandwich and pressed on it. The screen came on again. That maneuver made me feel like the module is bad. I’m going to see if I can find a module for replacement. I’ll get back to you after I replace it. Thanks.

Hi, I put the newer control panel in. Still not working. I checked the wires behind the nav screen, behind the control panel and behind the CD player... Nothing seems out of the ordinary. I wiggled all the wires, nothing. The screen came on today when I had to put the car in gear to put back the part that goes around the knob. I put the transmission into park. Turned it off then to the "on" position, nothing. I found out the car has a self-diagnosis. The screen will have to randomly turn on so I can do that. Other than that, I’m personally out of ideas.

If you look at the control panel above... The only button that works on the control panel is the emergency blinker which is the very top button on the control panel. That tells me it’s getting power. Especially after the replacement today, seems like it’s something else.

Hi,

Let's try looking at this from a different point of view. I have wiring schematics that I would like to review, but there are multiple options. Could you take a look at the pic below and let me know which you have?

Let me know.

Joe

See pic below.

I’m not sure. I have an 06 M45 Infiniti base model. It does not have navigation. It does not have a DVD player. There’s a Bluetooth box in the glove compartment. It does not have an aux. It does have Bose speakers.

Please let me know if there’s a place on the vehicle where I can get this specific information.

Hi,

I need you to clarify something for me. In the heading of the post, you indicate the Nav Screen black but flickers. Your last post indicates it doesn't have Navigation. I'm confused. LOL

Let me know.

Hi,

I attached the wiring schematic for the HVAC controller. The best thing to do is to start by checking connectors and making sure there is power to the unit that is required.

Note that the wiring schematic I attached was two pages. I had to cut each one in half to make them readable. I did overlap each so you can follow from one to the next.

Let me know if you are able to find any issues.

Take care,

Joe

See pics below. Also, run the scan tool again to confirm there is still nothing related to the can-bus.

Okay. So far I installed another control unit & display and same result. Flickers. It doesn’t seem to be the units.

Regarding your message I just stick the voltage meters in the ends of the coneectors right?

Okay so far, I checked all fuses with the car on acc with a circuit tester (not running). The fuses that don’t light the tester are fuses 72 74 76 and 86. Not sure if those have to be tested with the car running or not. My headlights do work. I will check male ends of wires to the screen and control module tomorrow for voltage. And attached is a picture of how my display looks flashing.
