No forward gear

After driving for about thirty minutes the "D" on my dash goes off and when I stop it will not goes into drive again until it has cooled down and other times it can take another thirty minutes then I can go.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a transmission shaft speed sensor that has gone or is gone out, You must scan for codes to see if it is input or output.
