Oil Leak

1994 Mitsubishi Mirage-127,000 Miles. This is a reply to the answer I got. The oil is coming from the spark plug holes. A while back I took the car to a mechanic and he said that my valve cover gasket was leaking but I looked and no oil is coming from the valve cover. It can't because my valve cover is only about a half inch tall. Plus, I wanted to ask if my car could just have a seeping head gasket because I read something about that once. Also, would a seeping or blown head gasket have something to do with me losing coolant over time? I really like this car and I wouldn't mind putting money into it but is it worth it? How much would a head gasket or cracked block fix approximately cost? Please help me, I'm between a rock and a hard place and don't know how to decide what to do. I hope this question makes since, I typed it at 12:58 in the morning.

Just because the oil isn't leaking to the outside of the engine, doesnt mean it isnt leaking into the spark plug areas. If you've got wet plugs, I doubt your car is running at all. Is your car running? A valve cover gasket replacement is fairly cheap and simple. I would have it done and see if it fixes your problem. If your block was cracked I would think there would be more dramatic effects than a slow coolant leak. Do you notice any spots on the driveway underneath where you usually park your car? There could just be a leak in a hose.

As far as replacement costs I'll say this:

Valve cover gasket: $100-$200 (do it yourself, 20 bucks)

Head Gasket: Many Hundreds

Cracked block: New Engine

Just leave it mitsubishi's are infamous for this problem there isnt anything you can do about it. If it gets bad pull off the valve cover, dry everything out and put some RTV oround the spark plug holes, then put it back on. Simple this should and will fix your problem.
