I have a 1996 mitsubishi galant es with approximately 160,000miles 4cylinder. About a month ago my car stopped on the road and it wouldn't turnover so I took it to a shop and got the crankshaft position sensor replaced and the mechanid told me I would need to replace the crankshaft pulley also. But 2 weeks after that it started running hot and I haad to replace the radiator the same day I was almost home and it made a noise then it jus started coasting til I came to a complete stop on the side of the highway. I had my friend come look at it and he said that the timing belt skipped time (i don't know what that means) and he tried to explain to me that it wasn't broken that I would need to get it back in position. He tried to do that and it got close but it got harder for him to turn it to the spot it should be at. I am single mother and its very hard trying to get a ride to and from work and pick up my son from the babysitter. I need to know if what he is sayin is possible and how to fix it because I have paid more fixing my car than I paid for it and I dont have the means to do that. But I need my car!

Check the ignition system by cranking it over, while someone looks for a spark on each sparkplug wires when grounded, answer this when you comeback.
