1995 Mitsubishi Mirage will not start

Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Mitsubishi Mirage 4 cyl Automatic 121000 miles

I was driving to work and stopped at the store, got back in the car reversed out put it in drive started to pull ahead and it sputtered out and now it will not start. It rolls over fine and I have power in the car. Any ideas

Cranks but no start condition:

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.

I had this exact same thing happen to my 96 Mitsu Mirage this week. I had it towed to a shop who explained that it wouldn't spark, and needed a new coil. They went ahead and replaced the whole distributor, and now it starts just fine!

It was about $360 for the distributor from Napa
