1999 Mercury Villager 114000 miles

My husband replaced the battery in my van and now it idles very rough and the check engine light is on. Does something need reset?

Have him be sure that the air intake boot is on and that he didnt bump anything near the battery when installing it (vacuum lines, plugs. Etc) nothing should need to be reset, except it might need to relearn idle at most
