Solenoid Switch

My car is a 1992 Mercury Topaz 4 dr passenger vehicle with a 2.3 L motor and 120,000 miles and I am wondering if I hooked the solenoid switch up wrong because I keep hearing the starter motor running while the car is running. Then when I shut off the motor to the car it sounds as if my starter motor is disengaging at the same time. Did I mishook a wire to the terminals somewhere on the solenoid switch?

Either that or the ignition switch is bad. The starter should only crank in 1 key position. Start, after you let go of the key it returns to run position, your starter is either hooked up to crank in both positions,
or the solinoid or ignition switch is bad. You don't wanna know the third option!

Jack I think you have 3 wires on this car there should be 3 posts or terminals. They are all different sizes so you don't put em on wrong. The real big one is the battery. Try changing around the two smaller ones.
