Transmission problem 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 118, 00 miles

This is a weird problem. It's summer now and my 1998 Sable shifts out of Park with no problem. As soon as winter comes and temperatures drop my car has to warm up before it will shift out of park. Any suggestions? Thanks! When it's really cold it can take 10 to fifteen minutes.

There is a shift interlock system that does not allow you to take the transmission out of park it must be getting worn and the cold weather is affecting it. I would replace the shift lock actuator or at least try to lube it.

(Here are some diagrams Below)

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers

The actuator for depressing the brake pedal is in the steering column you will need to remove the cover first. I replaced the actuator and the problem is fixed, Thanks 2Carpros
