1998 Mercury Sable - Starting Issues.

I'm having intermittent starting issues. Car might start up with no problem, drive all over the state, with several parking and restarts throughout.

After sitting overnight, occasionally the engine will turn, just not start. I can hear the starter turning and trying to start, its like it isn't getting a spark? Could spark plugs be the cause?

I replaced an ignition switch 4 months and 12,000 miles ago, and it appears to be the same issue.

Could one go bad in that time frame?

Weather does not seem to be a factor. Had it not start in 64 degrees, but started at 8 degrees.

I replaced an ignition switch on my son's 85 continental. It went bad inless than 2 months. It was a Wells brand. It literaly came apart. I replaced it with a different brand and have been trouble free for 2 years now. Did you replace the key tumbler? Is it sloppy?
