Mitchell 1 OnDemand states that the lower balljoint is pressed into the steering knuckle. It states that the knuckle must be removed to press the balljoint in and out.

However, if you can purchase a balljoint remover/installer kit, you can do it on the vehicle. Do you have access to this tool? If not, the removal of the knuckle requires a spring compressor for the front coil springs. Either way, you need some speciality tools.
