How do I replace the starter in a 93 mecury sable? Does it need to be put up in the air?

Remove the negative(-) battery cable, then remove the wires at the starter, remove the two bolts holding the starter, be careful the starter is HEAVY! Use caution removing the last bolt. Install is the reverse of the proceedure! It depends on if your starter is on the front or back of the engine, probably on the front, follow the positive battery cable to it, you will know if it needs a lift or not when you find it.
