Engine Performance problem
2002 Mercury Marquis V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

my car has 106000 miles on it. In the last two months the engine has shut down six different times while we were driving down the road. Sometimes the check engine light, temperature light. And the ctrl trac light has come on though not all three at the same time. Accordinging to the temp hand the engine is not hot, I have taken the car to a FORD DEALER three times and they cannot find what is wrong with the car. Do you have any ideal what is wrong with the car? Have you had this same complaint before from anyone else? Thank you, Jimmy McKee

Hello Jimmy McKee

A loss of important signal from the Integrated Electronic Ignition (EI) system that consists of the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor, coil packs, connecting wiring and the PCM can cause the engine to shut off while driving and restart like nothing ever happens.
Start with the crankshaft position sensor
