Power window motor

What is the procedure for replacing the drivers side power window motor in a 1994 Mercury Cougar? This is the fifth motor to be installed in the past 18 months. In addition, the power window switch and the window track has been replaced. In all cases, when the motor fails, it is after I partially lower the window and it will not close or open. Also, when the failure occurs, when I try to close or open the window, I see about double the current draw which indicates a possible short.

I am a shade tree mechanic, doing all the mechanical and body work on my 1960 Corvette, so I am well equipped.

Double the 5 amp current draw is going to kill the motor! Track down the short...here's a wiring Diagram...
