Hi, This would be my first time trying to replace both rotor and brakes on my 2002 mercury cougar, I had watched your video online and was very helpful but do I need to drain the calipers fliud in order to take the brake pads and rotor off?

thanks

Get hold of a 6" C clamp any hadware store. Remove master cylinder reservoir cover if it is full you will need to get some out turkey baster works.
With caliper removed place C clamp inside piston and back of caliper screw it and piston will retract fluid will go to the master. That way no air no need to bleed.
Good luck
