Shifting before starting

if
i insert key, try to start, and there is no turnover.I turn off key then shift from park to drive back to park,

i then turn on key and she starts right up.

What causes this? What do I need to do to fix it?

Hi there,

sounds like you have a problem in the transmission isolator switch. This is a device that won't let you start the car in gear, you best have the switch checked and or adjusted by an auto electrician, as this may be beyond the means of a home mechanic.
