The problem started when I noticed a slight miss at idle that would disappear at 1000 rpm and up. Shortly after, the vehicle would barely run. It appeared to be running on only 2 cylinders and would only go about 30 mph. I changed the plugs, new wires, new cap and rotor, and a new battery. After that the vehicle failed to start. I'm getting spark at the plug and off the coil. I'm getting gas from the filter to the injectors. I checked the firing order and did a cold compression check (since engine won't start) and get between 150-170 lbs. The plugs appear to be wet with gas, yet won't fire. I changed the plugs from autolite to NGK with negative results. I checked ECM and discovered a burnt spot. I sent the ECM to Texas and had it upgraded and repaired. They test the unit by installing it in a vehicle and letting it run.
I'm at a total loss! I'm not sure if a sensor could be causing the problem. Could a mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, or oxygen sensor cause the vehicle not to start or even sputter? Could it be a crank or cam angle sensor. Does my year and model have these sensors. Your help would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Do you have a check engine light On or has flashed?

When was the last tune-up?

For a start lets get the fuel pressure and the exhaust system checked for correct pressure and restriction in the exhaust system and also the throttle position sensor.

I didn't get any check engine lights. Recent tune up when I replaced all the ingition components. I removed the hose that exits the fuel filter to the injector rail and cranked the engine. Fuel flows freely. With the plugs out and cranking the engine, I can detect the fuel spray in to the cylinders. Will a faulty throttel position sensor cause not to startor sputter at all?

Thanks,
Steve

You sure its not flooding out-check the actual fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge and comeback with the readings-could be an excessive pressive or the pressure regulator is leaking-

I haven't checked the fuel presure as of yet since my starter quit. I have to replace it before any checks can be made. However, does my Mazda have a cam angle sensor or a crank angle sensor?
Thanks,
Steve
