2002 Mazda Protege, 53,500 miles

For the past few weeks my parking brake light on the dashboard has been coming on, particularly after I had slammed on the brakes. Then today the car was not accelerating past about 40-50 mph while driving on the interstate, and the the O/D off light on the dashboard began flashing repeatedly and would not turn off.

SOunds like you have two probelms.

One. The brake fluid might be low (brake light)

Two. If the o/d light is flashing there is probably something wrong with the transmission

Neither one of these problems would cause the other

HAve it checked out and let us know how things go
