ON MY 2001 MAZDA PROTEGE THE WIRE THAT CONNECTS TO THE ALTERNATOR BURNED OFF NO FUSES CHECKED OUT BAD. THE ALTERNATOR & BATTERY HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUT NOW ALL THAT WORKS IS JUST THE HEAD LIGHTS. THE CAR WON'T EVEN START. IF YOU TRY TO JUMP THE CAR THE NEGATIVE SIDE BATTERY TERMINAL SIZZLES.

Hi jalens,

Jump start by clamping the negative cable to the engine and see if it is ok.

The negative terminal might have poor contact.

If the ignition switch is not working, check for a blown main fuse at under bonnet fuse box.
