I heard a loud clicking when steering left from my front passenger side. A mechanic told me I needed the CV joints replaced. I did not get it seen to and now if I attempt to drive the car it makes a really loud grinding when I hit the brakes. So loud I will not drive it. Also the tires are really badly worn, especially the front. Does anyone know if the grinding that developed means more trouble than just replacing the joint?

Hi there,

The grinding noise is probably the brakes metal to metal. That is you have run out of brake pads and the metal pad backing material is grinding away the brake rotor, If the rotor is to thin, it will have to be replaced rather than machined.
