Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Mazda 626 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I was driving my car and I heard a loud bang come from the engine. The engine started to sound really bad and smoke started to come out of the engine. I pulled over and checked the engine and there was a bunch of oil all over the bottom of the engine. The engine doesn't leak any oil, but when I try to crank the car oil is shooting out of the bottom of the engine. The car will not stay cranked and it shakes and sounds really bad. I found where the oil is coming from. It is shooting out of a metal bar about 3 inches long an inch wide and a 1/4 inch thick it is bent and has a crack in it.

I cannot get a clear picture of it. It is on the very bottom of the engine under the exhaust manifold just above the corner of the engine in the middle. It is a flat metal bar

Hi there,

I can only imagine that you have suffered a major engine failure, is there a hole in the block or the sump? I just can't think of what this metal bar is that you are talking about, whit what you say in your post there must be a hole in the engine somewhere, I will see if I can post a view of an engine and you may be able to indicate the location, I will see what I can find.
