If I brake rapidly or am driving slowly my car will shut off sometimes and other times it'll start to shut off and the check engine will flash for a second. However, the check engine light doesn't come on any other time. What could be the problem?

I had the same problem, the dealer reprogramed my Transmission control module and the car gas been fine ever sense.

I just had this same issue with my 2010 Mazda CX-7! Turns out I had a bad mass air flow sensor and went to auto zone bought a new one that was $120 replaced it (very easy) and that was it!
