Manual transmission mode

The vehicle has a CVT, but features a manual shift mode in addition to automatic. I use the manual shift mode for added braking power at stops. Will this frequent switching between manual shift mode and automatic mode cause reliability problem?

Yes, I would use the brakes and not the transmission. If you use the transmission it can accelerate the wear which in the end will costing you a rebuilt transmission. Brakes are much cheaper and you can do them yourself. Let me know if you want instructions for the brakes?

I second that. Especially on that transmission which already has a legendary failure rate even with low miles.
