My car has a simple key with no chip. Is there any way to start my car and it run correctly without me replacing my lost keys or will it mess with the anti theft system? Only asking because I had a bad wreck over a month ago and lost my keys. I do not have a spare and it is outrageous to buy a new one. I have had a broken leg and not been able to work so I am broke and cannot afford a new key please help.

With the scenario you are posting any new key will have to be programmed to your car to work by a mechanic. I am not sure If that one uses a chip or not I do not think so because GM changed the way anti theft works around that time.

It does not have a chip in the key so I did not know if I started it without the key if it would mess anything up like for example; the lock cylinder is broke so it will turn on without the key. I am just scared to start it no knowing if it will mess anything up.

The most that will happen is the anti theft will engage then it won't start or run until it's fixed.
