Locked ignition

I replaced the ignition cylinder in 2013. Have had no problems. Son leaves work puts key in and it will not turn. No problems leading up to this. Shifter will not move. I rocked car back and forth then shifter now moves fine. Key will go in and out fine. Put it in neutral no go then back to park no good. It dings when key is inserted so we know it is the right key. Tried wd40 and also graphite but it will not turn. Have a new one to put in. Do not know what else to try. Help please.

Try lightly taping on the key hole of the cylinder with a hammer and see if it will turn then. Also if that doesn't work insert the key and lightly tap on the key with a hammer and see if the key will turn then.
