Stalling

I bought a used 1984 Lincoln Towncar. For the first two weeks, it ran nicely, but recently, it began stalling whenever I put on the brakes, even soft braking. It would start immediately, and ran until I begin slowing down using the brakes. Any ideas? Thank you.

When was it last tuned-up?

I'll will say start with the PCV and EGR valve/to include vacuum leaks- When these things checks out-we'll go to the fuel system-checking the fuel pressure with a fuel gauge calibrated for yours.
