Hello, I went out to my car once it has been sitting for a few weeks and I go to start it up and I get no power, the locks do not even work. It’s like it doesn’t even have a battery connected. I wonder if it’s the cable or if it’s something else. I also tried jump starting it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

It's possible there is something in the vehicle that's causing the battery to drain after sitting for a long period of time. It's also very possible that your battery has simply failed due to age. Start by verifying the battery terminals are clean and tight. If the battery is too dead to start the car(even with a jump start) you'll need to either recharge it or replace it. Automotive battery chargers are very affordable and are available at any auto parts store. Once you get to the point where you can start the engine, I would follow the information in the two articles below. The first one walks you through the process of checking your vehicle's charging system. The second shows you how to inspect for excessive battery draw.

It is a brand new battery, I am going to attempt to change the cable because I put a new terminal end on which didn’t work and the wires are split in the cable.
