Engine Cooling problem
1989 Lincoln Town Car V8 Automatic 80, xxx miles

I have a 1989 town car. I replaced the radiador, heater core upper and lower radiador hose and ive went threw 5 thermistats. This last time my car was running high so I put another thermistat in and it ran high at first and then shot back down to normal. Now it is running low ( its should be around the A in normal and now it sits at the bottom of the L and the uppper hose is hard as a rock. Can someone help me im hoping its not my water pump or head gasket going bad but I cant figure out what the problum is.

need help please

When you put the thermostat in was the spring toward engine. If so when cool take rad. Cap off run to operating temp. Does fluid flow? If needed keep adding fluid until all air is out of engine.
Good kuck

Yes the thermistat is in with the spring in the engine and on a few occasions I could feel the fluid going threw the upper hose but still the temp gage is low and then it hardens back up. And yes the radiador when the top is off it bubbles up.

Are having to add coolant? Take a look at the oil is it look normal?
If there is bubbles in rad. And top hose gets hard very likely coolant is being superheated by exhaust gas. You can get rad. Tested for traces of CO &HC if present head gasket or hair cracks in head.
