Car goes into limp mode, wont pass 4,000 rpm's. When I turn my car off and back on it will go past 4,000 for about a minute then it will go in limp mode. I have a bad CV boot I don't know if that code be it. No check engine light only ABS light is on. The code scanner read a vtec malfunction I changed the vtec solenoid it still happens. O2 sensors and shift solenoid acceleration is really bad. What is the problem? I have been trying to figure it out for months the guy I bought it from said he switched the engine but I am not sure if he really did, but if he did could it be one of the computers?

Hello,

Even thought he check engine light is not on we should run the codes because pending codes can help us and not trigger the check engine light. It sounds like the throttle bore could be dirty causing the issue.
