We replaced the spark plugs on my car because we at first thought that was the issue and we are about to replace the coil pack because it’s showing an issue on one cylinder. The lights coming on is new. This has been happening the past couple days where the hazards came on by themselves when we weren’t around the car. That drained the battery and when we jumped the car the car alarm and lights all came on at once when the battery was able to support it. Is there a specific few things we can do to try to fix this?

Hi,

The code you indicate deals with swirl control valve position sensor voltage. Basically, the voltage is too high (above 4.8v). That shouldn't have anything to do with the hazard lights. The only thing I can think of is if somehow when replacing the coils/plugs, something was shorted, specifically the swirl sensor. That would indicate the high voltage, but not the lights.

I attached a pic below showing the location of the swirl control valve position sensor. It is in the rear of the engine. Check to see if anything has damaged the wiring to it and if something is shorted to it.

As far as the hazard lights, here are the diagnostics for testing. The remaining pics correlate with the directions.

Apply battery voltage to the air conditioner control assembly and check that the switch illuminates.

If the result is not as specified, replace the air conditioner control assembly.

Hi AllyNikka,

We can help you with this information. I have a question do you have two separate issues, and the first is spark plugs and the coil was there a issue with check engine light been on and how did you determine plugs and coil.
“Please start a new question” for the different or new issue and include the link.

Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers, Nick

So when I accelerated enough to get on the highway I could feel my car struggling to speed up. (A/C was not on I know this model Lexus has been known to have A/C issues but I’m not sure that would even impact this but just wanted to include that it wasn’t on.) The check engine light came on and was flashing so I pulled over and let the car cool off. I drove after that and it seemed to be fine. It did it again a couple weeks later so we used a code reader and that’s when it pulled that code and it seemed like it was misfiring even when we started it up as the problem was progressing. We then replaced the spark plugs and cleaned up that whole area because it was gunked up with oil that wasn’t supposed to be there that seemed to be spewing from the PCV valve so we replaced the valve and the car was still misfiring. We used the code reader again and it was indicating an issue with cylinder 6 so we’re assuming to replace that coil pack. I don’t know if we just didn’t re attach everything properly with the wiring when we were done but we are going to check that too because we’re thinking maybe that’s what is causing the lights coming on but I’m going to check into the other response’s suggestions because it only started turning on lights after we started working on the car. I’ll attach photos/video today or tomorrow.

Hi AllyNikka,

Okay, first I will like for you to check to see in front of the engine where the the intake manifold is to look for a three wire connector that you might have disconnected, connected make sure is seating correctly, then second is to snap a photo of the codes in system, and then clear codes, run engine and see if check engine light comes on again or it produces code, if it has a code for misfire (cylinder 6) then try to swap that sic cylinder coil with another, erase then run again for codes to see if the code misfire changes with the cyl that you changed with. Remember there are two of them on each side of intake manifold.

Cheers, Nick

The 3 wire connector is located at the back of the engine. I have seen many people pull the pigtail connector when removing the upper intake manifold to replace spark plugs/coils. The pigtail connector can be ordered separately from the dealer.
